Thursday 4th June

Good morning! Please read from chapter 5 to chapter 10 in the PDF file version of Skellig which is attached below. I am currently experiencing some trouble uploading the literacy tasks. After reading the chapters, the guided reading questions can be answered up to chapter 10. This file should be attached to the Monday 1st June post as Reading Comprehension Chapter 1-10.

Wednesday 3rd June

Good morning! Here are the next two chapters of the story and an activity sheet to draw a picture of the mysterious figure in the garage. Label the drawing and write down quotes from what the character has said. I have managed to get hold of a PDF version of the book which I shall also attach so that you can read it yourself or look at the text to retrieve information.

Tuesday 2nd June

Below, you will find a video explaining the math and literacy tasks for Monday and Tuesday, there will also be two videos reading the first two chapters of Skellig. These are all below the Monday 1st June post and the next task has also been added to the document list.

Monday 1st June

Good morning! Here is the next instalment of home learning tasks. You will find the next section of Singapore Maths in one word document, this is a chapter on volume. Literacy and Guided Reading will be slightly combined as we aim to tailor these to the book 'Skellig' by David Almond. A task will be uploaded each day with a chapter or two read to you from the book in a YouTube video which will be added below as soon as I have read the chapter. The first two tasks can be started without listening to the chapter as the first chapter is included in task 1 and you may read it to yourself if you wish.

Good morning! Here is the next instalment of home learning tasks. You will find the next section of Singapore Maths (Perimeter and Area) and some literacy tasks. For the next Science topic, we are looking at Space, there are some space worksheets and activities and suggestions for possible art and design and technology work.

There are some reading assessments for guided reading and comprehension this time. For each of these, you will need the reading booklet and then the question booklet. Once the questions have been answered, you could check them using the answer booklet. There is a number with each on to make it easier to match them. The fourth, fifth and sixth assessment are all in one document.

As always; stay safe, have fun , enjoy the sunshine and send us some photos of the work and activities you have been up to if you like.

Below, you will also find the spelling you need to learn for year 5. This document comes with a challenge, can you earn the Bronze, Silver and Gold medals by learning all of the different spelling rules.

Thursday 23rd April

Good morning! Here is a document full of science learning opportunities if you would like to explore some.

Wednesday 22nd April

Good morning! Here is a challenge decimal question using a bar model. See if you can work out the length of each piece of wood.

Tuesday 21st April

Good morning! This I today's very short video, quickly explaining translations. Translations are just the movement, so when asked to describe the translation, you simply need to write, down 3 and left 2 and a half or whatever the movement actually is.

When reflecting a shape along a line, you need to make sure that the shape is the same amount of distance from the line on each side (Handy hint! Count the squares!).

Have fun!

Monday 20th April

Good morning! I have uploaded the third round of home learning tasks to the website.
You can find a range of Maths, Math Challenges, Literacy and SPAG and  Guided Reading activities. Please complete these when you wish and in whatever order you wish.

There are some Math Challenges from Classroom secrets which the children are used to completing. These range from fairly easy (The sheet with a red D in the small star) to potentially really tricky (The sheet with an orange GD in the small star).

There may even be some more daily videos to help =).

Have fun and make sure you stay safe.

Wednesday 1st April

Good morning! Today's math task is calculating angles, watch the video for a short introduction and a slight explanation about the challenge worksheet which you can download underneath. There is also a lot of interruption from Winston.

For Literacy today, you can watch a film and then write a film review using the worksheet attached below. Make sure you provide your opinion about the film, don't write more than 1/4 of it retelling what happened.

Below, you will find; the math challenge worksheet, the literacy task which is not included in you park and the worksheet for math on Thursday which is also not in your pack.

Tuesday 31st March
No Good morning! Today's video is all about angles. There is some information at the beginning which you do not need for today's worksheet however it is stuff you do need to know and it may come up on a following worksheet or in one of the challenges which I am going to add below the video.

There are 2 worksheets to complete from your pack today which you should see in the video and then there is a challenge (an easy challenge today) below which you will either need to print out or simply write the answers for as this is not included in your pack.

You can choose your own Literacy, SPAG, and Science tasks for today. Why not start writing a diary about everything you have been up to during the lockdown? This event is a big thing and your diary could be a primary resource in the future when someone writes about this event which happened all around the world.

Monday 30th March
No video again today! The math worksheets you can complete today (shown in the photos below) are all a recap of things you should have learnt up to year 5. A nice and simple task for a Monday morning. Tomorrow there will be a video explaining how to calculate angles.

There are 3 shape worksheets to complete in total.

For today's literacy task, you can complete the Continue the Story sheet, you can use the skills you used to create suspense in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in this piece of spooky writing too. Create a really exciting piece of writing with complex and compound sentences, impressive vocabulary and some Alan Peat sentences.

Here is a link to some Alan Peat sentences you could include in your writing today with explanations on how to use them.
www.kelsall.cheshire.sch.uk/serve_file/94451  <--- Alan Peat Sentences

Friday 27th March
No video today! The math worksheets you can complete today (shown in the photos below) are all working out percentages of amounts which I explained in yesterday's video. Just remember to move the digits to the right two spaces if you are dividing by 100 to find 1% before multiplying that answer by whatever amount you are trying to calculate, such as; 65% 23% 13% etc.

There are 4 worksheets to complete in total.

For today's literacy task, you can complete the Titanic worksheet.

Thursday 26th March
In today's video, I explain your forth math, and literacy tasks. Today's literacy task can be funny if you really think about it. Use Alan Peat sentences and create some exciting writing. I want to laugh my socks off!

Here is a link to some Alan Peat sentences you could include in your writing today with explanations on how to use them. www.kelsall.cheshire.sch.uk/serve_file/94451  <--- Alan Peat Sentences
