Early Years Foundation Stage
At Oakfield Primary Academy we know that starting school is an exciting time: a time of new experiences, new friends and new places. Our school days provide a safe and secure environment where your child can learn through a range of activities and play. We also encourage children to acquire skills and knowledge through first hand experiences allowing them to understand the world around them. We know that all children learn at different rates and in different ways, we aim to give all children the best opportunity to reach their full potential.
The Early Years phase at Oakfield Primary Academy Caters for Nursery and Reception aged children. The classrooms provide a bright, child-friendly and stimulating environment where learning takes a play-based approach. The pupils have a mixture of individual, small group and class learning opportunities. We operate a free flow between the indoor and outdoor classrooms. Each child has their own online learning journal that documents their progress and achievements throughout their time in the foundation stage. The online journey uses a combination of pictures and observations from both school and home.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) covers children from birth to the age of 5. At Oakfield this includes children who are in our Nursery (Acorns ) and Reception. The EYFS curriculum has 7 areas of learning and development; 3 prime areas and 4 specific areas. They are:-
