Music
Our curriculum intent for music is to excite, promote and sustain children's interests into a lifelong love of music. This is by providing an enjoyable learning experience exploring sounds and learning through different musical instruments. Children will experience music lessons in a practical manner with opportunities for a variety of musical experiences such as performances, singing to an audience and having muscians visit the school. They will listen to and appreciate different genres of music as well as learn the technical vocabulary such as volume, pitch, beat and rhythm which will encourage children to develop their knowledge and skills to become confident listeners, composers and performers. Teachers will promote creativity and welcome innovation as the children will be given ample opportunity to compose their own pieces of music. They will develop confidence, communication, thinking and creative skills which can also improve their emotional well-being.
