At Oakfield Primary Academy, we encourage children to be inquisitive learners throughout their time at school. The Science curriculum fosters healthy curiosity in children about the world around us and promotes respect for the living and non-living. Sustainability is a thread which is interweaved within our Science curriculum to continuously promote respect for the world around us.
The Science curriculum at Oakfield encompasses the acquistion of knowledge, scientific skills, vocabulary and key concepts. Throughout the programmes of study, our pupils will acquire and develop the key knowledge that has been identified within each unit and across each year group.
The Science curriculum has been designed so that our pupils can build upon their knowledge as they move through the programmes of study. Key concepts will be re-visited to support the retention of conceptual knowledge. Within this, our pupils are exposed to rich scientific vocabulary which they will be able to apply in their learning. At Oakfield Primary Academy, our pupils are equipped with the skills to work scientifically and can communicate their findings in a variety of ways. Our pupils are scientists who not only understand the scientific knowledge covered in the classroom but can make links with the outside world.
